Meet Our Team
“I went into medicine because I wanted to be a positive force in the world, one patient at a time. I chose obstetrics and gynecology because of the incredible scope of women’s health. I love my work because I meet patients across the full spectrum of life – adolescence through post-menopause, and every stage in between. Women are the best patients!”
A native of Houston, Texas, Dr. Nancy Binford received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in History from Rice University. She completed medical school and her obstetrics and gynecology residency at UT Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. Dr. Binford has been practicing medicine in Austin since 1998 and opened her solo practice in 2007. She has built a strong presence in the Austin community and has repeatedly been recognized by her peers as a multi-year recipient of Best Doctor, Austin Monthly Magazine, Texas Super Doctor (recognizing top 5% of Texas doctors, Texas Monthly Magazine), and consistently being listed in Best Doctors in America.
Dr. Binford is active in physician leadership at Seton Medical Center and has been on their Medical Executive Committee since 2011. She is also a member of Travis County Medical Society and Texas Medical Association as a strong advocate for health care access for all Texans.

“I consider it a great privilege to walk with women in their lives. I am driven by my belief that taking the time to listen and learn about women’s lives and concerns is the basis for a trusting patient-provider relationship, and it is this relationship that will guide the steps needed to achieve wellness in mind and body.”
Susie Cobb is a physician assistant (PA-C) nationally certified by the National Commission for Certification of Physician Assistants. Susie graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and then earned her Masters of Science in Physician Assistant Studies at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.
A high school field trip to observe surgery at Baylor College of Medicine was the event that led Susie to realize medicine was the field she wanted to pursue. She had a fascination with the human body and its workings, and she felt called to serve people in their times of illness and difficulty. (Little did she know that field trip would lead her to return to Baylor College of Medicine as a student later!)
While in college at UT, Susie determined that the role of physician assistant was the perfect fit for her career goals. As a PA student, she was trained according to the medical model with education in all specialties in medicine. This broad scope in her educational background allowed Susie to follow her interests in health care at different times in her career in Austin that has now spanned over two decades.
After working in obstetrics and gynecology for twelve years (including five years of work with Dr. Nancy Binford), Susie accepted a position in internal medicine, and for seven years, she enjoyed addressing patients’ concerns for all areas of their health in addition to continuing to see women for their gynecologic needs. An opportunity then arose in psychiatry, and for the next three years, Susie followed her interest of helping patients with their mental health needs including during pregnancy and the postpartum time frame. Susie felt called to return to her roots in women’s health, and since returning to Balcones Gynecology, it is evident that her experience in adult primary care and in mental health care contribute greatly to her philosophy of attending to women’s needs with a holistic approach.
Susie is proud to be a part of Balcones Gynecology working with Dr. Nancy Binford and her exceptional staff who have the shared vision of providing the utmost in compassionate medical care to women. Outside of the office, Susie enjoys spending time with her family including her two sons, hiking in the greenbelt, camping, traveling, playing flute and handbells, playing piccolo with the UT Longhorn Alumni Band, and visiting family in her native Houston.
